Because of the disastrous present fiscal climate many persons have been laid off work due to no failing of their own…simply an assortment of bad conditions…they are at present itching their heads philosophizing where now? In the back of their head they have been mulling over – “should I launch my own building supply business?” Except where do you go for advice like that?

Having your own venture means you are no longer the individual who takes the orders (or shouldn’t be); by all means be a first-class boss listen to your workers (if you have any), take note of their opinions and reflect upon the information they give to you. Now it is your appointment as the boss to collate this expertise and put policy into action…”failing to plan is planning to fail.”

This is finally it; you’ve completed the jump and you’re running your own business.

This is the time when you need to really focus on what you want for your business and your way of life. Try to keep the two away from each other as much as possible…this can be really testing for most people especially if you now work from home a lot. Keep in mind however the entire point of working for yourself was to better your life as a whole. Do Not let the new business be “An Albatross around your neck”…it is there to get you the rewards you have always wanted.

Although, of course, the money helps!

Were you one of those in education? Who’s school report said…”This one will never amount to much!” What a feeling that would be to go back into your old school and say to your old teacher – “look I’m running my own business now – how’s the schooling going these years?”

We live in a big world; their are thousands of building supply businesses – but they are not all the same; as a new industrialist it is your task to run your business the finest way you see fit with your experiences you have gained in life so far.

Major building supply businesses are designed that way by people just like you. Capitalists do well because they plan to succeed, they take the means to work out how they want their business to be; they design it that way and take enormous pleasure as their business and their life starts to tie in with their dreams.

Start your building supply business immediately!

When you purchase a computer at a retail store, you are paying marked up prices not only from that retail store, but from the manufacturers as well. So, take a moment to learn how you can do it yourself.

1The first thing you need to do is decide on the type of machine you want to build. By type, I’m referring to the purpose of the machine. Will you be using it for Gaming? Office Use? General Desktop use, etc. Determining the type of machine you are going to build helps facilitate which types of parts you should order to build your machine. Let’s take for example, a gaming machine. If you are building a gaming machine you will want to put additional focus(and money) into a powerful video card.

2Next, after you have determined the type of machine you want to build, it’s time to order the parts. Here is a general overview of everything you will need to build a functional machine:

1. Motherboard (this holds all of the components together)
2. CPU (this is the brain of the machine, it processes all the instructions)
3. Memory
4. Hard Drive/CD-DVD Drive
4. Video Card
5. Monitor
6. Case
7. Keyboard/Mouse
8. Power Supply

These are the main components we will need, but there may be additional ones depending. I also recommend purchasing a anti-static wrist strap. This will protect the machine from static electricity(which can ruin components) during the building process.

3To order these parts you will want to go to a reputable company, I personally use TigerDirect.com, another good site is NewEgg.com, both offer a vast range of hardware at a decent price. In this example, I will be building a computer that uses an Intel Processor on a Socket Type 775. What’s a socket type? Depending on the motherboard you choose, it’ll come with a certain type of socket, this is the area where you insert your CPU. It is very important to match the CPU with the motherboards socket type, else they will be incompatible together. Socket 775 is a very popular type for Intel-based processors. So, let’s purchase the parts and get on with it.

I chose the Intel DP45SG Motherboard, it supports a vast range of powerful Intel processors, and a good deal of memory. Pay attention to expandability, it should be a big selling point. You want this machine to be able to adapt to the future demands of new operating systems and applications. Technology evolves very rapidly, and it’s important that your machine can evolve with it. You can take a look at the motherboard I chose: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4008497&Sku=I69-2172

There are a few things we should pay close attention to when we buy a motherboard:

1. The type of processors supported
2. The type of and amount of memory supported
3. The type of connectors and interfaces supported

Connectors and interfaces are important.. because it dictates what kind of devices you can have attached to the motherboard. For instance, if you buy a hard drive that utilizes the SATA interface, but your motherboard contains no SATA interface, you’d have to resort to less favorable means of getting it to work(a sata card, for use in a PCI slot).

Now let’s a choose a processor(remember to make sure it’s supported by your motherboard). I chose the Intel Pentium Dual Core processor. It is cheap, and I’m just building a basic(but powerful) system. You can see it here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3301655&CatId=2851
You’ll also want to make sure that it includes a fan, else you will have to purchase your own.

You can choose any Hard Drive you like as long as the interface works with your motherboard. Most modern motherboards support SATA/IDE, but again, if you are building an older motherboard it may not support SATA.
CD/DVD Drive is also relatively open, you can pretty much choose any you want and be assured that it’ll work with the motherboard you use.

Now, we need to purchase memory. We need to match it to the memory type supported by our motherboard. The Intel DP45SG supports DDR3 memory,
I chose Corsair XMS3 Memory. 2GB’s of it, It’s actually two sticks of 1024MB memory: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3163026&CatId=3361

Time to purchase a Video card, tailor this to your needs. If you are building a gaming machine, you’ll want to purchase a more powerful video card. I chose the XFX GeForce 9800GT. Pay attention to the slot it uses, most cards use the PCI-E slot nowadays, but if you are building with an older motherboard, it may use an AGP slot. The card can be seen here:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4209965&Sku=P450-9830

Next is the Monitor, this is a personal preference, you can use any monitor you like. You just have pay attention to the type of connector it uses. If you have a monitor with a VGA connector, you will need to buy a cheap converter for most modern video cards(which use DVI).

For a case I chose the Xion Solaris ATX Mid Tower. It also includes a power supply, which is nice, but keep in mind that often cases that you purchase that include a power supply are cheap. So you may want to purchase a better power supply if your machine will be very power hungry. You also want to pay attention to what form factors the case supports, when you buy a motherboard, it’ll list what form factor it is.

Purchase any Keyboard/Mouse of your choice.

Alright, now that we’ve hopefully ordered all of our parts, and received them we can get to constructing our new machine. People think building a computer is really complicated, but it’s actually not too bad. Before we get into this, make sure you take the proper safety precautions, hopefully you’ve purchased an anti-static wrist strap, or a ground mat, or both. Also, the power should never be plugged into the machine until you are 100% finished with the build. Additionally, if you get stuck on any of the steps, by all means, research. Search google for simple terms, like installing memory, installing CPU. A wealth of good results will show up. Let’s get to it.

Unwrap your motherboard and CPU, we’ll put the CPU in before we attach the motherboard inside the case. Installing a CPU is relatively simple, it varies on the type of socket you have in the motherboard. We are using a socket 775, but if you have a different motherboard with a different socket, simply search google for installing socket xxx cpu. Find the area where the CPU is to be inserted, it’ll be a square and will have a metal lever. Pull the metal lever down and away from the socket, then pull it back until it hangs loosely. There is a small plate covering where the CPU needs to be inserted. Use the small tab on the right edge, push down to flip up the plastic cover, and also the load plate. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE PINS once exposed. Now take the CPU, notice the two notches on the side, these correlate to two plastic extensions on the socket. Hold the processor by its sides, orient it so the socket extensions fit in with the processor’s latches that we discussed. It should all align and not need any force to do so. Now, close the load plate, and also the protective plastic cover. Press a finger down on the load plate then rotate the metal lever towards the closed position.

I hope the CPU installation went okay, next we’ll want to place the motherboard into the case, and install the heatsink. The case should have came with what are called spacers, it lifts the motherboard off the surface a bit so it does not touch the case. They may already be installed in the case, if not, simply screw them in the holes that are available. Then, align the holes of the motherboard with the spacer’s holes, and begin screwing them in. Don’t tighten the screws with any force, just make sure they are firmly screwed in.

Installing the heatsink is relatively straight-forward. Place the case so the motherboard and CPU is facing you. Take the heatsink(you may want to check the bottom of it to make sure the thermal grease is applied and is not damaged), you need to align the heatsink’s screws with the 4 holes around the socket, once aligned, screw them in until it sits on top of the CPU casing firmly. Also, connect the heatsink’s power-cord to the nearby power connector, it’s usually 4 pins, sometimes 3.

Memory is very easy to install, simply find the memory slots on the board(they will naturally be about as long as the memory itself, pull the levers back on each side of the memory slot, and line the memory with the slot correctly and push down firmly, it should click and both sides of the levers should snap back into their closed position.

Now it’s time to put the Hard-Drive and CD-ROM in, let’s assume you are using the SATA Interface for your Hard-Drive. Insert the hard drive into its bay and align it with the holes on the side of the bay, and screw them in until the hard drive is firmly set. Connect the SATA cable into the back of the Hard-Drive and into the SATA port on the motherboard. Connect the power connector that runs from the power supply into the back of the hard drive. For the CD/DVD drive, insert it into its bay and align it with the holes on the side, firmly screw in as done with the Hard Drive. I’m using the IDE interface, connect the ribbon to the back of the CD/Drive and into the motherboard’s IDE connector. If you are adding more than one IDE interface, make sure you pay attention to the jumper settings on the back of each device, one will need to be set to Master, and the other to slave. After the ribbon cable is connected, connect the power into the drive.

Now, the final step. We must connect the power to the motherboard. There should be a 20 or 24 pin cable from the power supply that will need to be put into a 20 or 24 pin connector on the motherboard. Find the match between the two, and insert it until it clicks. Close the case back up, and plug in the power to your computer, boot up, and hopefully encounter no problems, and install your OS of choice, and congratulations if you made it this far.

Selecting the right supply company plays a major role in any building or renovation project. The professional builders and home owners generally take aid of the companies providing building supplies. Construction being a booming business the suppliers is in much needed demand. The building materials are supplied by these companies to the contractors, realtors and renovators for the execution of the construction work. They are very much depended on the suppliers for the building materials.

These companies not only supply materials to the site of construction as per the order of the builders and contractors but also provide wide variety of services. They assist in planning a project, deciding on materials, designing structures and resolving challenging problems with cost effective solutions. These days they are providing exceptional personalized services to adapt with the growing competition in this industry. Building supplies of fine quality is very much essential as it is the base of construction.

The people all around are becoming environment friendly. This has brought the concept of green architecture development. The environment friendly building material has become very popular and therefore the building supplies distributors are manufacturing such materials. Essentially cement, ceramic, brick, aluminum and steel plays a significant role as building materials. Recently, wood materials have been replaced by light steel for main building structure and roof. Roof structure made of light steel has some advantage- it is stronger, anti corrosive, anti porous, flexible and lighter. It can also be paired with architecture design calculation. Eco friendly house concept also has started to take a centre stage. The eco friendly materials help to lessen the negative impact of transportation to the environment. The eco friendly materials come from renewable sources like forest plantations which are non-toxic in nature.

Various manufacturers, wholesale supplies and exporters of building supplies have been provided for the buyers on the online platform. They provide a wide array of building supplies such as granites, stones, pipes, plywood, pavings, natural stone, steel bars, aluminum sheets etc. So, through these online directories of manufacturers you can search for your preferred supplier. You should never compromise on the quality of the building supplies. It has been often observed that high quality building materials are just not good for the environment but are advantageous to the owner as well. Plastic based building materials are very harmful for health whereas materials like stone and bamboo is free from toxic and carcinogenic residues. So, by using environmental friendly materials you can enjoy an eco friendly house and you would surely love it.

Article by Sears Home Pro

One of the effects of the recent recession is that home improvement contractors are now offering their services for considerable lower fees. This means that the cost of home improvement is not as high as it used to be and a lot of homeowners are taking advantage of it.

After you might have decided on a improvement project for your house, the first stage is the planning stage. You need to have a clear idea of what improvements you would like to do and where everything should be. If you are adding a new patio, have a clear vision for the design of the patio and put your plans down in a concise manner. After that you will need to determine the cost of improvement.

The cost of improvement depends a lot on the materials that will be needed for each project. Things like the cost of wood, pipes, paint, tiles and the like all reflect on the cost of improvement. Therefore in determining the cost of improvement, you need to settle on what materials you would need for the project.

Professional services will also impact on the cost of home improvement. You need to take into consideration building costs, installation and fitting prices, plumber, electrician, painters, decorators and other home improvement professionals’ fees will all go into the cost of home improvement. It might be useful to find out current industry prices and the cost of materials so that you have an idea when you are planning.

On the other hand, bearing in mind that costs and prices could vary, depending on the improvement project you are undertaking, you should get a himprovement company to handle most of your home improvement needs. The reason for this is that a improvement company will already have the materials needed for your improvement project and might have discounts on offer. Furthermore, you could get cost estimates from them for the cost of materials and the cost of labor. Finally, they will have a competitive warranty program to protect you should anything go wrong with your improvement.

Home improvement is a necessity if you are a home owner. The cost of home improvement will always depend on your budget and what sort of work you want done on your home. The projects will cost a bit of money but the cost of improvement is seen as an investment towards the value of the house. When and if you do eventually decide to put your home on the market, your improvement will significantly increase the value of your home.

Home Improvement

Nero Red Marble

There can be no question that, for most people, the house they purchase is one of the biggest investments they will ever make. Not only will it tie up a great deal of your money for many years to come, it will be the place where you and your family reside. This means that issues such as comfort and security are paramount, not to mention the prospect of enriching the house should always be on a homeowner’s mind for monetary reasons. With all of these things in mind, home improvement should be undertaken with a serious mind and an eye to the future.

Here are some tips to help any homeowner through the process.

MM STONEWORTH INDIA – Manufactured and wholesale Supplier of Slate Stone Exporter

Chocolate Red Marble

First of all, no home improvement job should be started without a plan. If that means taking some extra time, then so be it. Better to let that kitchen remodeling job simmer for a while then to jump into it half-cocked and wind up making a lot of mistakes along the way. Sometimes mistakes are unavoidable. But, just like when you were taking tests in high school, the best advice is to slow down and be careful. The only exception to this rule is when there is an emergency, such as a leaking roof, that must be taken care of immediately.

Second, do your research when it comes to hiring contractors to work on home improvement projects. Some projects can be done by the average homeowner and some cannot. If the project falls into the former category, you’ll want to hire the best team you can. A good way to start is by asking friends and family members for their recommendations. If someone owns a house, chances are they’ve had to have work done at some point. This gives them the experience necessary to make a recommendation. If you can collect two or three such recommendations, you’ll be much further along in making a good hire.

MM STONEWORTH INDIA – Manufactured and wholesale Supplier of Slate Stone Tiles

Finally, whether you are doing the home improvement job yourself or hiring others, remember that there are likely many ways you can save money. One of the best ways is to look for quality materials that don’t happen to have a major brand name on the packaging. This is different, of course, from buying lower quality materials only in the name of saving a buck or two. You never want to sacrifice quality, but a name on the packaging doesn’t add anything to your house. Shop smart, and you can often save yourself some money on any job.

Are home improvements tax deductible?

Home improvements, like renovating a home or making permanent additions to the home, increase the value of the house while making it more habitable. Home improvement loans, availed for the purpose of making certain improvements, qualify for tax deductions. In addition to these loans, certain expenses also qualify for tax deductions and tax credits. A tax deduction reduces the amount of taxable income. A tax credit, on the other hand, reduces the actual amount of tax that a person has to pay. Hence, a tax credit is better than a tax deduction since the former reduces the actual tax liability.

Home improvements, that have been undertaken for medical reasons, also qualify as medical expenses and are thus tax deductible. For instance, people suffering from heart ailments can install an elevator in the house, to avoid climbing the stairs, and can claim a tax deduction citing medical reasons. Improving the homes air filtration system by installing central air-conditioning or removing a drywall that may be damp and mould can help abate the symptoms of asthma in people experiencing breathing difficulty. The doctor may have to provide a letter stating the necessity of making these improvements. All reasonable costs, incurred to accommodate a handicapped individual, qualify for deductions. Constructing entrance and exit ramps for the home and widening the doorway at the entrance and the exit to the home in order to help handicapped people living in the home; installing railings and support bars along stairway and in the bathroom; modifying the kitchen to make it easily accessible to people with disabilities; modifying electric outlets and fixtures; installing lifts and levelling the ground are some of the capital expenses that are deductible.
The process of improving a real estate usually tends to be very expensive. Though this process is expensive, sometimes it is extremely essential. Home improvement grants and loans are financial aids extended to people to renovate personal real estates, like, their homes, farms and beach houses. In the real estate market, better the condition of the property, the more is it’s market value. Also a beautifully interior designed and well furnished house, certainly is very inviting and comfortable. In general, home repairs are not tax deductible, while home improvements are rarely tax deductible. There are, however, a few types of improvements that do have tax deductions or credits, including medical necessity, home loan interest payments and energy efficiency.

Taxes are computed by taking a person’s income (money from all sources earned), subtracting deductions and computing taxes based on the new amount. Tax credits will reduce the taxes owed on that new amount. That is, a deduction will reduce the amount of income that is to be taxed. Credits reduce the taxes a person actually pays. Some tax credits are refundable. If the taxes owed are less than the credit, that person will receive money back. Other tax credits are non-refundable, which means that the person will not receive money back. Tax deductions can only reduce the taxes owed, but will not result in a payment beyond the refund of taxes already paid.
In general, home repairs are not tax deductible, while home improvements are rarely tax deductible. There are, however, a few types of improvements that do have tax deductions or credits, including medical necessity, home loan interest payments and energy efficiency. Building your own home is a challenging, yet very rewarding endeavour. It requires determination, discipline, solid budgeting and a commitment to the project. Determining the cost for construction can be a good way to begin thinking about designing a custom home.

Which Home Improvements Pay Off?

Generally speaking, there are two ways to go about making home improvements. Either you splurge for something purely for the sybaritic pleasure of having it — the Italian marble bathroom you’ve dreamed about; that skylight that your spouse has been hinting at for the last six years — or you take a pragmatic approach, buying an energy-efficient furnace or repairing a leaky roof because you want to increase your home’s market value.
1) Covering the basic necessities – the first improvements you need to make are the ones that really matter. If there are any problems with your home’s structure or systems, you need to fix these first. Potential buyers care more about problems that affect a home’s function (like a leaky roof) than problems that are cosmetic (like an outdated kitchen). And, when potential buyers find out that the home needs major repairs (replacing the roof, updating an electrical system, or removing mould), they will move on to the next home for sale on their list. So, use your money wisely – especially if you have a limited budget. Focus on areas that make your home more liveable.
2) Kitchens – if your home poses no major problems, you can start your renovations in the kitchen. When you’re making home improvements, the kitchen is a good place to start because it can greatly affect the value of your home. Buyers want clean, updated kitchens. Be sure to use good quality materials and classic designs (but don’t go too modern). In order for your home improvements to pay off, you need them to appeal to a wide range of home buyers. Some of the easier improvements to make include painting the kitchen (using a neutral colour, of course) and replacing cabinet hardware if the current hardware is too basic or outdated. Replacing outdated appliances almost always pays back more than full. Also, make sure that your kitchen has sufficient lighting.

Exactly how much you’ll recoup in costs depends on several factors, including the direction of the broader housing market, the value of the homes in your neighbourhood, when you plan to sell the home and the nature of the project itself, explains Stacey Freed, senior editor of Remodelling magazine. In some housing markets, you could indeed earn more than your investment back on a remodelling project. When undertaking large remodelling projects, it is smart to research your local real estate market to find out if your project will return your investment when it is time to sell. Depending on where you live, the right project may return 100% of your investment. That is why research is the smartest way to begin any remodelling project.
Remodelling projects should be done when you are planning on staying in the house for several years rather than starting major work for the sake of trying to increase resale value. Since you can’t guarantee that you will get a decent return, it makes the most sense to remodel when you will be able to enjoy the benefits in the long run; and make minor, more cosmetic changes if selling is your primary goal. Some home buyers (especially first-time home buyers) think that a down payment is the only cost of buying a home. However, they soon realize that their down payment is one of many costs that require cash or a check upfront. So, how much should you expect to pay before closing on your new home? When potential buyers drive up to your house, the first thing they see is the front of your house. Buyers know that usually the exterior of the house is a good indicator of the inside of the house, so the front of your home can make a very important first impression on potential buyers.
To make the best first impression possible, follow these seven steps. As a rule, improvements that increase the functional space of a home hold their value longer than ones that just make a house look better. Some basic home improvements and landscaping around your home can really increase the value and visual appeal of your property.

taking your measurements for your wall

when you get the materials you need take your measurements of the length of your wall. when you do that you will cut your bottom and top plate to that measurement. now take the measurement of how tall your wall is going to be that’s going to be your two by fours that are the up rights in your wall. NOTE: when you take the measurement of the height for your two by fours right that down. you have two subtract 3 inches from your height that compensates for your bottom and top plate when you build the wall. so if you take a measurement for your height and say your tape measure reads 96 inches subtract 3 inches from that and cut your two by fours at 93 inches. when you get all of your measurements do all your cutting outside. you will have to build the wall inside your house where the walls going to be so you might have to clear out a spot in your room to build yor wall.

Best material for beautiful building.

materials you will need to build a wall inside your home can be found at a home depot store or Lowe’s. first you will need to buy wooden two by fours, that is the up right pieces in the wall they come in 8 foot length 12 foot lengths depending on the height in your room. second you will need one bottom plate and one top plate they come in various lengths depending on the length of your wall. the top and bottom plates goes on each end of your two by fours one at top and one at bottom and then you fasten them together with screws or nails

how to build your wall

when you have all of your measurements and have cut your wood take it all in your house into the room where it’s going to be built at. you might have to clear a spot in the space where the the wall is going to be because you are going to build the wall on the ground first and then stand the wall up in position. you might have to recruit another person to help stand the wall up.

first take your bottom and top plate and put them together evenly

now take your tape measure hook it on the end of one of your plates measuring from right to left now pull your tape measure and you want to mark on your bottom and top plate together every 16 inches on center. your tape measure is already marked in red every 16 inches. so make your marks at every 16 inches down the length of your bottom and top plate this will make your marks where each end of your two by fours will go

now separate your bottom and top plate. and now that you have your marks on both plates put your two by fours between your bottom and top plate centering each end of your two by fours on the marks you made this makes everything alighn straight

you can start nailing or screwing you wall together where your two by fours meet your bottom and top plate

use two screws or nails at each end of your wall fastening your bottom and top plates to the two by fours

now at the very end of your bottom and top plates cut and install a 2 by 4 at each end your wall is complete

now with help stand the wall up where you want it and use a level to make sure your wall is straight up & down

then at your bottom plate screw or nail down with two fasteners into every other bay into the floor. (it’s better to locate your floor joists but you can nail or screw to the floor) and then do the same to your top plate to secure your wall in place

1. Assess the skills you have and those that you don’t. I would assume you have the skills and equipment necessary to build storage buildings. Do you know how to set up your financial system? Do you know where your start up money is coming from? If you don’t, learn those skills or have someone else who knows how to handle your business. Quicken had a good small business software program that is easy to use. If you have difficulty with this part of the business, hire someone who is skilled in this area that you feel comfortable working with who can take care of this part of the business for you. This person will help you decide how you will pay your workers. (Are they subcontractors or employees?), take care of payroll issues, (taxes), and give you insights in ways to make your business more financially efficient.

2. Check out the ‘competition’. How can you do things differently than they are doing them? Make note of what segment of the storage building market has not yet been adequately addressed in your area. Provide value rather than considering a lower price. (You want to make money, right?) Consider using higher quality materials or consider ways to speed up the building process rather than cutting cost. By making a better product you will be selling to the higher end customer who is willing usually willing to pay a higher wage as well as for better materials. Identify what is available, in what price range, with what special features. Remember too that not all of your competitors have brick and mortar locations. Be sure to look at your online competition.

3. Have a building where you can construct your buildings any time without concern for the weather. Because storage buildings are often smaller than other buildings, they can be fabricated one place then put together on the site If you’re considering using your garage as your prefabrication site, be sure to follow local zoning laws.

4. While you’re checking out local zoning laws, get the proper contractor’s license and other necessary licensing; learn the local building permit laws. Obtain the proper business licenses for your area by checking with your county’s business division, often found at the local court house. Forgetting to get the necessary licensing will result in fines and that is not good for the bottom line in your storage building business.

5. Find the best prices for the materials you will be using. Since you have a contractor’s license you can buy your materials wholesale but don’t forget to shop around. Finding ways to save even a few pennies per board foot can amount to the difference between breaking even and having profit at the end of the year. Speak with local building-material suppliers to determine at what point you would qualify for volume pricing.

6. Create only a few basic designs that you plan to work with that complement the homes in your area. If the designs of homes in your area require specific designs that require special tools, then you know you will need to special tools.

7. Create miniature versions of your basic storage building designs. Take pictures (or have a skilled photographer take pictures) of these designs and with these pictures create business cards, brochures and flyers. You may want cut costs by using templates produced by publishing software on your computer.

8. When beginning your business, don’t quit your day job until you discover that your day job is interfering with your business. If you have a location where you can prefabricate your buildings, you will be able to work in the evening pre-fabricating your buildings then on Saturdays you can erect the storage building on the site. This way you can reinvest your income from your business into your business initially rather than requiring you to live on your business income.

9. In the beginning especially, don’t over-spend in the advertising department. Begin by using free advertising like the billboard in the local hardware store, grocery, or restaurant. Don’t forget Craigslist and other free advertising on the internet. Get the word out by telling your friends and family. Hand out your business cards to everyone you meet. Place a small ad in the local ‘free paper’. Look around at neighborhoods and find houses that do not have storage buildings. If door to door solicitation is against the law in the area, creatively find some other way to connect with them.

10. One place you will want to spend on advertising is at home and garden trade shows. Here you will not only be able to show your storage buildings with potential clients but don’t forget to network with other venders at the show. Leave your business cards brochures and fliers with everyone you connect with. When one of their clients are looking to build a storage building and ask them who they know that builds storage buildings, they will have a business card to share with them.

11. Always be professional. Put your proposal into writing. Make any changes and be sure that you and your customer agree on the work you are to perform. Both you and the customer will need to sign and date the contract. Never do any work until you have a detailed signed dated contract. Do what you say you will do when you say you’re going to do it. This not only includes finishing a job on time but includes every area of your business. When people see that you’re an honest, hard-working company who does quality work and finishes the job on time, you will have a successful profitable storage building business.

Of course, we all know about the story of the Three Little Pigs. The youngest, who happened to be the wisest, had picked the best house building material that the Big Bad Wolf almost died due to the lack of breath, but never had the house down.

In house building, construction materials play a very crucial role in determining how many years your house would last. In engineering, there’s a subject called “strength of materials.” In this subject, the materials—iron bars, cements, and other things and equipment used in house building and other construction projects—are tested to be able to determine if they can withstand extreme heat and pressure.

These tests are not only done for quality control but for the safety of the public. In your house building project, ensure that the materials to be used have passed the quality and safety standards to avoid dangers. Most of the substandard house building materials can easily break or deteriorate, thus making your dream house to collapse.

In buying construction materials, remember the following things:

• It must bear the quality seal. It is the National Institute of Standards Technology that determines the quality of the construction materials that are being manufactured and sold in the United States. In order to know if the product you have purchased is top quality, you need to look for the certification of the said agency. The International Standard Organization (ISO) also provides certification for the products, services and companies, to assure that the products or services being sold are in high quality.

• Always trust the experts. Always ask the opinion of an expert, an engineer or an architect, before purchasing any construction materials. They are the ones who are equipped with the sufficient knowledge about these kinds of things. Ask what brands they can recommend.

• Do some researches. If you doubt the quality of the home building material that you saw or you bought, you can always consult the internet. Research about the quality issues about the product.

Always remember: Substandard materials are a big no, no! The safety of your family and yourself is the most important thing on earth. Remember that you are supposed to build a house to shelter you, not to cause you any harm. Don’t just trust your instinct—always verify. Also, bear in mind that it is not cheap to build a house nowadays, so be sure that your house would stand the test of time.

You may find cob cottages particularly cute, but taste isn’t reason enough to choose one natural building material over another. Like more manufactured products, different earth materials all have different uses: straw bale is a great insulator, cob is a nice thermal sink as well as one of the easiest materials to sculpt if you’re looking for lots of curves in your structure. Since different parts of the building need to do different tasks, even in the same building you might choose straw bale for one wall and cob for another. Natural building expert Michael G. Smith shows us some of the uses for straw bale, cob, slip straw and clay wattle (a variation on wattle and daub) in the homes and buildings of Boonville, California’s Emerald Earth Sanctuary.
Let’s get started….

Things you’ll need:

1×4, 1×2 2×4 wood, stain or paint grade
Box level
Hammer and nails or screwdriver and screws
Saw
Measuring tape
Scrap plywood or particleboard pieces(if you want plywood back and bottom)
Paint and brushes or stain and wiping rags

Step 1 Assemble the things you’ll need. First scrounge at home for leftover wood from another job. Look in your garage or workshop for old 1×4 scrap or pieces of plywood or particleboard. Go to a Home Depot Store for the wood you don’t have and look in their recycled wood. Ask them to cut some pieces if you find what they want. The wood there is pennies on the dolar! . Determine how large your new wood bin will be and let that determine how much of each you will need. Bring a sketch with you. Note: You need to measure your split wood first, they will probably be about 3-4 feet long, more likely 4 ft since a cord of wood is based on a 4 ft dimension. If you don’t mid a rustic look inside use recycled wood, if you do, use new wood and buy it there. You can get nails and screws there too.

Step 2 Measure all pieces and cut at same time. Check your measurements. You will want something about 36” by 52” overall. The back will stand about 24” tall, the bottom will be about 36” by 52” and the sides will be 24” in the back, but have an angled front piece that starts at the 24” top point and angles down to the 36” bottom. You will connect the two sides by a 1×2 nailed or screwed to each side at top, providing support. The only solid parts are the back and the bottom. You can use plywood or particleboard for these if you like. The rest is open so you can insert logs and stack them with the larger pile dimension being at the bottom and the smaller at the top, similar to most wood piles stored outside. To visualize, imagine a cardboard box with only solid bottom and back and the corners sides cut so the corners have solid pieces of cardboard from bottom of box to top of box with no lid. Next imagine that the front cardboard vertical corners have been cut and re-attached at an angle from the bottom to the top of about 30 degrees. The Author’s sketch should help you see what you are making.

Step 3 Fasten corner pieces at back and front. Use 2x4s for corner, top, and front supports with back and sides of individual pieces, plywood, or particle board. Nail 1x2s across bottom at each side to the 2x4s. The 2x4s are needed because the wood weight, when bin is loaded is quite a bit. The 1×2 will be the nailer for the solid bottom piece. Hold it about 2” off floor so there is air flow under bin. Again, the back and bottom are the only sides solid, the rest are open to maneuver wood into and out of bin. Nail angled front 2×4 from top piece to bottom.

Step 4 Make sure support frame is completed before nailing back and bottom. You could build this support frame out of all 1×4 material if it is swell fastened together. It is important to angle the side front supports from top to bottom to allow easier wood stacking access. Then finish off with the top 1×2 brace crossing from side to side.

Step 5 Make sure side supports are angled to bottom and 1×2 nailer is applied for bottom nailing. This allows the person loading and stacking the wood bin to easily build a pile from the ground up by maneuvering the split wood in and around the frame supports. The wide base bottom is so the wood has someplace to go if it shifts when a person loads or unloads the pile of wood.

Step 6 Fasten corner pieces at back and front.

Tips:

Find a nice flat table or workbench to work on. If you don’t have one see Author’s article on Hot to make a recycled door workbench/table.
Make a nice sketch of what you want on graph paper to scale before you try to find your wood.
Use new “no knot” cedar if you want a nice unit and use brass screws. Don’t stain or paint cedar.

Warnings:

Check your measurements twice so you don’t cut wood wrong!..
Be careful with power tools!
Use grounded outlets!

SUBJECT: PROJECT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A COVERED VERANDA IN GLULAM IN ELEVATION TO EXISTING MANUFACTURED IN ARMED CEMENT TO LAND OUTSIDE A PLAN IN PLACE VARAPODIO. – Backbone in laminated wood. It is a rectangular building, with vertical structures (reinforced concrete pillars. Arranged along the perimeter of the house), from horizontal structures (reinforced concrete beams and slabs in the floor cement brick). All the structures described above have direct foundation consists of continuous beams reverse, type directly supported on the ground, in normal reinforced concrete cast in place type formwork frames. In particular, the proportion of the first reinforced concrete bridge decks, in line with the underlying pillars were set in the pillars of the laminated wood floor first (second above ground), anchored to the existing structure in reinforced concrete, with steel plates and pulls-funds anchor that will be provided in the existing structure, so it is necessary to anchor the pulls-funds of metal plates, the armor of plan in reinforced concrete, through the use of chemical cartridges to anchor (Poliplast), polyester resin-based adhesive and consolidating for the reinforced concrete, after completion of the holes at the pulls-funds planned, executed with a diameter equal to the anchor irons. The structure consists of vertical pillars will be combined into elements of glued laminated wood complying with DIN 1052 …
